We would all like to have perfect smiles. But maintaining perfect oral and dental health seems to be harder nowadays with all the unhealthy foods and drinks discoloring our teeth. Not to mention makes our gums recede quicker.
And while tooth discoloration is an easy issue to fix, the same cannot be said for a receding gum line. The good news is that there are certain things we can do to maintain the whiteness of our teeth. They include the following ingredients:

Receding gums, too, don’t have to necessarily be treated in a dentist’s office. There is something you can do at home, using the following natural remedies.
1. Aloe Vera
A number of studies have attested to the fact that if one puts aloe vera gel into their mouth and uses it as a makeshift toothpaste when brushing their teeth, they can naturally whiten them! You can also try mixing this gel with some water for a natural, homemade mouthwash.
2. Lemon Oil
You can try adding a few drops of this oil to some water and use it regularly. What this technique does is help you prevent gum recession due to its tissue-stimulating and tissue-increasing abilities.
3. Quit Smoking
Other than the many other reasons why you should stop smoking, the nicotine also has a teeth-discoloring effect.
4. Don’t Brush Right After Your Meals
This may be a surprise to you. The reason why one shouldn’t brush their teeth straight after a meal is that it can truly damage the tooth’s enamel, in its weakened state.
5. Floss Daily
Brushing and gargling is perfectly fine. But if you wish to get rid of all the harmful bacteria residing in your mouth, take a piece of floss and slide it carefully between each tooth. It’s best to do this in what they call a ‘zigzag’ motion. Just make sure not to floss too hard and damage your gums in the process.
6. Rose Vinegar
Start by washing some organic petals and letting them dry. Proceed by adding them to a jar filled with white vinegar and leave this jar out in the sun for about a month. This serves as a mouthwash for strengthening your gums.
7. Enough with the Junk Food
Not only will you be much healthier if you quit junk food, but your breath will also smell better, and your teeth will look much nicer. Junk food is infamous for helping the bad bacteria grow in one’s mouth, which can result in many infections.
8. Oil Pulling
Ever heard of the famous oil pulling method? It’s really simple and so effective for obtaining whiter teeth and healthier gums. All you need to do is take one spoon of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 15-20 minutes before spitting it out (no gargling or swallowing!).
Afterwards, make sure to rinse thoroughly and brush your teeth as you usually would. This method is most effective if done every day, early in the morning before consuming anything.
A superstar among spices, turmeric can do so many things when it comes to improving your health. It can even protect you from any gum diseases and keep the harmful oral bacteria at bay. What you can do is mix ¼ tsp. of turmeric with a little water to make a paste.
Now just use this mixture as a makeshift toothpaste and brush your teeth with it a few times on a weekly basis.
10. Green Tea
Green tea is abundant in natural fluoride, catechins, and polyphenols, which makes it excellent for helping destroy the bacteria which are the source of cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. It can even prevent bad breath.
You can drink three to four cups of green tea daily (without honey or sugar, of course!), or chew on some sugarless green tea gum.
